Happy summer! It's officially here. I thought a great way to start it off was with one of my favorite summer staples, a maxi dress. They are one of the easiest pieces to wear this time of year and I love their versatility too. I've been getting pretty lucky lately in terms of finding ones that fit me well in length. This one worked out well so I was able to wear it with these low chunky heeled sandals. Yay! I decided to belt it to define my waistline and break up the fabric. This dress is a little loose on me up top, so the belt also helped with that too. I think it's a good idea to stock up on thin belts like this one so you can mix & match them with different outfits. I definitely need to get a few more. Since this was a casual daytime look, I wanted to keep it really simple. I just did some color blocking with my yellow tote and added this gold cuff for a little something extra. The finishing touch was a messy side braid.
There are so many different styles of maxi dresses and you can easily transition these into the night time too. The dress itself is a statement, so you don't have to do too much in terms of styling, unless you want to of course. I love their boho-chic vibe, so a wide brim hat and oversized sunglasses is always a fun way to go. But I also like pairing them with denim jackets or even a moto jacket for those breezy summer nights to bring a touch of edginess to the look.
